“Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world.”
– Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam
India celebrated its 75th year of independence, and the Prime Minister inaugurated “Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” to celebrate this historic occasion. Continuing from this vision, the Indian Oil Corporation, in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture, had launched “Jigyasa”: The AKAM Quiz.” Jigyasa is an initiative that has been quite unique in terms of a combination of India’s rich civilisational heritage with the latest technological advancements, creating knowledge and awareness. Gyan parampara is the base on which Jigyasa learns, as it opened access to innovative and inclusive learning by means of advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning.
With over 20,000 questions, Jigyasa is India’s largest quiz and runs for 263 days, from April 22, 2023, to December 31, 2023. The quiz had nationwide participation, drawing contestants from 725 districts and embracing inclusivity with 2879 participants from the Divyangjan community (persons with disabilities), representing seven types of disabilities: hearing impairment, blindness, low vision, leprosy cured, mental illness, locomotive disability, and mental retardation. Notably, the Divyang team won one of its teams all the way up to the finale and won a cash award amounting to INR 1 lakh. Jigyasa showed the spirit of the “Azaadi ka Amrit Mahotsav” by solidifying cultural wealth with India’s technological leap in delivering a learn-to-all concept.
